Welcome To My Blog

I rule!Don’s Opinion is a site that expresses a few thoughts, opinions, and concerns, from the perspective of an average Canadian watching his world change in front of him. And I’m as average a Canadian as it gets; middle aged, father of two, one of six siblings, son with one deceased parent, separated, cancer survivor, my debt’s too large, my pension’s too small, I’ll apologize if I brush into you, and I hate to be distracted during Coach’s Corner.

I actually came up with the idea of a blog site for my son, who was having difficulty finding work. He graduated from University with a degree in Political Science, unfortunately there appears to be few employers presently looking for Political Scientists; I thought a blog would be a perfect start for him. After all, he’s opinionated, intelligent, educated, and likely experiencing the same frustrations as many his age. So, after he told me how stupid the idea was, how outdated I am, and how I couldn’t understand; he challenged me to go start my own blog…. so I am.

With the addition of a little humor, sarcasm, and the occasional Googled fact, the site touches on some serious topics in an effort to provoke some discussion and opinions. I certainly don’t profess to be an expert on any particular subject, but I do think you will find some of the material interesting and thought provoking. I hope you will take a few minutes to read some of these blogs and provide your comments.

Hi Don! Happy I stumbled onto your blog! I am really
enjoying your your ideas… Especially A Canopy of Roses. Beautiful… And I know what you mean about the fact you were maybe meant to be in that place at that time for that woman. I had an experience like that once. Ask me one day after hockey and maybe I’ll tell you about it.

    Hi Tracey,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment on my blogs. Believe it or not, I’ve had several encounters like the one I wrote about in “Canopy of Roses”. I’m going to post them in time. I look forward to hearing your story as well, after a few pops of course.

    Be good, Don 🙂

    Hi Don!

I am looking forward to reading your entries! I took a political science class in college, which was life-changing as the professor, Larry Sabato, was so enlightening, engaging, and challenging. He presented “the facts” and didn’t try to sway students one way or another, but instead encouraged the banter and positions with the challenge for students to debate their topics honestly and without rhetoric and propaganda, since at that age students tended to parrot what they had heard or what their parents believed without any thought. With that said, I wish I could take that class again now!

So glad to have stumbled across your blog and will relish reading it!

    Best,
    Kearney

PS – Please forgive any errors; I typed this on my iPhone, which has a small screen and an aggressive auto-correct 🙂

    Hi Don
1- Sorry, your Branding sounds very much like …a lie to me 🙂
If you were an ”average Canadian”….you would never have the brilliant idea to start this blog and you would never have such a great storytelling ability …..
2- Blog: it looks like you are smarter than your son….too bad for him….starting a blog is the best way to demonstrate your skills and talent and position yourself as an expert in your field….
3- Words have the power to define the way you think, what you believe and how you end up acting. The more you brand yourself negatively, the more you impact your subconscious mind. Don’t be humble and weak. Take action and responsibility. Good guys can also be ambitious winners 🙂
4- Only one thing was ”average” and very boring about you LOL……but is not anymore. Your duty-style Canadian Boring career………lol……. Lucky you, it is over now…. time to start a new exciting life…..can’t wait to see how great you are going to do/have and BE 🙂

It was a pleasure to meet you my dear friend.
    Big hugs
