You know it’s been said
There’s an angel born every day
Many live among us
Watching over those in need

It’s been said there are some
Who don’t even know they’re angels
Sent to spend a lifetime
Learning through every deed

Would you know an angel if you met one?
Oh… how could you really tell?
Would you treat someone differently?
Oh… if you knew they were an angel

I’ve been fortunate to meet a few
You might ask how I know
As a simple man
I’d probably answer “I really don’t”

But I’d be lying
And I’d gladly tell the world
Oh… if they’d only let me
But a true angel really won’t

Out of respect for those so humble
All angels lost in time
Not knowing just how special they are
Not wanting to be recognized

Today I just say thank you
For sacrifices made instinctively
For those you tried but couldn’t save
Oh God, I know you tried
Mmmm… thank you
Oh…. please know I thank you

So, would you know an angel if you met one?
How could you really tell?

… A hint is when your eyes water a little
And you feel the warmth of a smile
It means an angel is near you
… And likely has been for a while
